A Ride To Share: Suzuki Balik Eskwela Charity Ride

It is in the heart of Suzuki’s operations to give back to the community. It is the core of Suzuki Helps, Aids and Rebuilds or SHARE program to lend a hand to the needy. As a testament to this, SHARE joined the Balik Eskwela charity rides of two of the most established Suzuki clubs in the country – the Thunder Riders Organization of the Philippines (TROOP) and Club Suzuki Raider J (CSRJ). A timely get together for the riders, the event also serves as an activity in commemoration of the Philippines’ 116th year of independence.

Giving back at Payatas

On June 11, TROOP, together with Suzuki Philippines worked with the TV Crew Riders Association for a charity activity in Payatas, Quezon City. Aiming to help the 100 students of Sandakot Day Care Center, the riders gave school supplies including paper pads, pens, crayons, and envelopes all packed in Suzuki drawstring bags. The group also gave out snacks to the kids who prepared a very cute song number as a form gratitude to their donors. These children are also part of a feeding program hosted by the local government to ensure that their malnourished state is addressed. One of the poorest areas in the Philippines, Payatas is known as the country’s second Smokey Mountain where the main dumpsite of the National Capital Region’s garbage is located.

Touching lives in Naic Cavite

On June 12, it was the CSRJ’s turn to help the underprivileged Day Care Center students of Naic, Cavite. This time, Suzuki Philippines’ President Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki personally joined the riders. Taking the almost two hour ride to the coastal area of Naic particularly Brgy. Bagong Kalsada, the group did not mind the distance. Immediately proceeding to the distribution of school supplies, the riders with Mr. Suzuki handed over the loot to each of the 150 kids who humbly received the items with a shy smile. The group also gave a separate box of school supplies for the teachers to use. Once done filling the bags for the upcoming school opening, it’s time to fill the tummy of the beneficiaries with doughnuts from Wazzap, juices and cold coffee bottles from Kopiko.

Over 50 motorists attended this 2-day endeavor with their reliable Suzuki motorcycles as their chosen ride. To participate in the SHARE Program and be part of the clubs, join the Suzuki Community at www.facebook.com/SuzukiBikersFed.
