It’s a podium finish for the debuting Suzuki NEX 115 units at the 2012 Regional Underbone Grand Prix (RUGP) in Cebu. With the Suzuki BMR Racing Team, the NEX 115 achieved this finish in all three heats, marking its Asian race debut a sterling success.
This achievement was set on July 22, 2012 at the RUGP when the NEX 115 manifested its very good potential in racing with its nimble handling and lightweight engine.
The Suzuki BMR Racing Team that competed in Lapu-Lapu was composed of riders Mario “Super Mario” Borbon, Jr., John Louie Chan, Jeffrey John Tuico, Paul Anthony Mencias, and team manager and riding coach Bobby Mencias.
In the race for 4AT Scooter 130 Beginners, Louie Chan finished in first place, riding a Pearl Sakura Pink NEX 115 Unit. In another race, 4AT Scooter Intermediate Expert Open, Mario Borbon, Jr. finished as 2nd place, riding a Pearl Flash Green NEX 115 Unit. Their last racer, Paul Anthony Mencias, finished 3rd place in the 4AT Scooter Novice 160 riding another Pearl Flash Green NEX 115 Unit.
“We are really surprised by the performance of the Nex 115, given the fact that it is a new model with limited racing parts, we were able to perform and win at this level.” Bobby Mencias, manager of BMR.
The NEX 115 boasts a roller-type rocker arm—first in ASEAN scooters—which facilitates a solid gasoline intake and exhaustion. It also has special compact and lightweight parts that improve fuel economy without decreasing acceleration and performance. It runs at an average consumption of 52km per liter, and even better depending on the riding style and road condition.
It is available at a suggested retail price of PHP 60,900 and is available in 5 colors - Pearl Flash Green, Pearl Sakura Pink, Brilliant White, Titan Black and Celebration Red.
