Unfazed by the overwhelming spotlight on the Olympics, Team Suzuki Pilipinas participated and did well in the 2012 Asia Road Racing Championship in China last August 4 and 5. The country’s only representative in the event, racer Dashi Watanabe, posted an exciting result in the 600cc Super Bike category. He was ahead of 7 other riders, recording his best qualifying laptime at 1:43:701, which earned him a slot in the leg’s race.
Watanabe also finished smoothly on Race 1 (provisional race) and Race 2 (final race) in the China leg posting impressive records at 1:41.939 and 1:41.125 respectively. He finished 16th overall, much better compared to his 19th place finish in the Indonesia leg in June.
With three more rounds to go, Round 4 in Japan on September 7 to 9, Round 5 in Taiwan on October 11 to 14, and Round 6, in Qatar on November 15 to 218, Team Suzuki Pilipinas expects Dashi Watanabe to show more remarkable performances, considering his consistent improvements from the previous legs.
Team Suzuki Pilipinas prides itself as the official National racing team as endorsed by Philippine Sports Commission and supported by Denso Spark Plugs, YRS and Motoworld in their ARRC Campaign.
