The countdown begins for the biennial football competition to crown the kings of football in the ASEAN region with the official draw for this year’s AFF Suzuki Cup held at the Chaturathit Ballroom at Golden Tulip Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the ASEAN Football Federation and contested by the national teams of countries in the South East Asia region, the AFF Suzuki Cup is probably one of the most highly anticipated football tournament in the country today, for this has been the game changer that had redefined local football.
A qualifying round will be held in Myanmar on October 5 at the Youth Training Centre in Yangon where Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Timor Leste and host country Myanmar will compete in a round-robin tournament for the two remaining spots in the tournament. The top two teams from this Qualification Round will join the top 6 seeded ASEAN nations—Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines for the Group Stage eliminations scheduled on November 24 to December 1 in Thailand and Malaysia.
After which, The Semi-finals and Finals will be played on a home and away format from December 8 to 22, 2012.
